Tillis questions where Hegseth went after first boat strike
Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) on Wednesday questioned where Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth went on Sept. 2.
Tillis, in an appearance on CNN’s “The Source,” said he has no reason to doubt Hegseth’s claim that he did not see the second attack.
“I’ll take at face value, right now, what Secretary Hegseth said. He said he wasn’t there. He said he was busy doing other things.
“I would assume a part of the record was, what was the other thing that he was doing that was more important than a battle damage assessment.
Tillis said he wants a detailed account of what the Defense secretary did and what decisions were made over the course of the attack.
“All that’s important because, see, Secretary Hegseth is the leader of arguably the most complex, consequential organization in the history of mankind.
Making a bad mistake could start a war,” he said late Wednesday. “Making a mistake can get American military personnel killed.”
